After meeting Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul Gandhi said it was a "historic step to unite the opposition."

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, and Mallikarjun Kharge, the head of the Congress, met with Nitish Kumar, the leader of the JD(U), the chief of Bihar, and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday in the nation's capital in yet another effort to bring the opposition's dispersed members together ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Lalan Singh, Manoj Jha, a prominent Congress leader, and Salman Khurshid, a former cabinet minister, were also present at the meeting.

After the discussion, Rahul Gandhi told a press conference that they will develop the opposition parties' vision and stand together for the nation. "This is a crucial move in bringing the opposition together. Rahul Gandhi added, "We will work to realize the opposition parties' vision and advance; we will all stand together for the nation.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge described the meeting as "historic," adding, "Today we held a historic meeting here and discussed several subjects. We all agree that the best way to win the upcoming elections is to unite all of the (opposition) parties.

Kharge added that the opposition leaders had promised to amplify the voices of the populace and give the nation fresh direction. Immediately after the meeting, he tweeted in Hindi, "We will defend the Constitution and save the country."

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, stated that the goal of the gathering is to get as many parties together as possible in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He declared, "We will work to bring together as many political parties as we can and advance together.

The meeting today took on added importance as leaders of several opposition parties looked into fresh coalitions to take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the center in the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The gathering followed a recent dinner party that Congress leader Kharge gave at his Delhi home. Sources claim that JDU leader Lalan Singh encouraged Congress to lead the effort to bring the opposition parties together during the dinner party. Recently, Kharge discussed the Opposition's unity with MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and president of the DMK, as well as Uddhav Thackeray, a former chief minister of Maharashtra.
