Next year's general elections in Pakistan are scheduled for February 11

The Election Commission of Pakistan has officially declared that the upcoming general elections in Pakistan will be conducted on February 11, 2024. This announcement, made during proceedings before the Supreme Court, puts an end to the prolonged period of uncertainty surrounding the election schedule.

Sajeel Swati, the legal counsel representing the Election Commission of Pakistan, mentioned that the process of delineating electoral constituencies will be finalized by January 29, thereby facilitating the smooth conduct of the polls.

This update came to light during the Supreme Court's resumption of hearings regarding several petitions advocating for elections to be held within 90 days following the dissolution of the National Assembly and provincial legislatures. A three-judge bench, presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa and comprised of Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan and Justice Athar Minallah, deliberated on these petitions. Key petitioners included the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, among others, as reported by the Dawn newspaper.

The National Assembly was dissolved by Pakistan's President Arif Alvi on August 9, marking the commencement of a new electoral cycle.
