Ancestral property owned by Dawood Ibrahim, reserved at Rs 15,440, was sold at auction for Rs 2 crore

The Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Authority (SAFEMA) recently auctioned the smallest plot among Dawood Ibrahim's ancestral properties, originally listed at a reserve price of Rs 15,440, eventually selling for Rs 2 crore on Friday. Notably, this particular plot was one of four ancestral properties located in Mumbke village in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district, the ancestral village of Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, auctioned by SAFEMA.

In the auction, another property, initially priced at Rs 1.56 lakh, was successfully sold for Rs 3.28 lakh. Collectively, the reserve price for all four properties amounted to Rs 19.2 lakh. SAFEMA, in a statement, clarified that these properties are registered under Dawood Ibrahim's mother, Amina Bi, and were seized in connection with cases related to smuggling and violations of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act against Dawood Ibrahim and his family members.

This recent auction follows similar initiatives by SAFEMA in 2017 and 2020, where over 17 properties belonging to Dawood Ibrahim were successfully auctioned. In 2017, SAFEMA managed to auction several properties, including Hotel Raunak Afroz, Shabnam Guest House, and six rooms in the Damarwala building near Bhendi Bazaar, generating a substantial sum of Rs 11 crore. Subsequently, in 2020, six more properties linked to Dawood Ibrahim were auctioned by SAFEMA, resulting in a total revenue of Rs 22.79 lakh. These auctions reflect the ongoing efforts of SAFEMA to liquidate assets connected to underworld figures as part of legal proceedings against them.
