Actor Ajay Devgn addressed the controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh, who has been criticised for starring alongside Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. At the trailer launch of his upcoming film Son of Sardaar 2, Devgn was asked about the backlash Dosanjh has faced, especially for the film's overseas release.
Responding in Hindi, Devgn said, “I don’t know the source of this trolling or what’s right or wrong. I’m not in his position to comment.” He went on to say, “He must have his own challenges. The people criticising him are thinking from their own point of view. When two sides have different perspectives, a dialogue is the only way forward. Everyone is reasoning from their side—but that’s not how things should work.”
Dosanjh had previously clarified that Sardaar Ji 3 was filmed before the Pahalgam terror attack, after which India imposed a ban on Pakistani artists. He also stated that he had no control over the film’s release strategy. Despite this, some film bodies in India called for a ban on Dosanjh and the rest of the cast and crew.
Many in the film industry and public continue to support Dosanjh, echoing his claim that the decision to release the film in overseas markets was not in his hands.
Meanwhile, Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, is scheduled for release on July 25. The film stars a large ensemble cast, including Ravi Kishan, Mrunal Thakur, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Chunky Panday, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Vindu Dara Singh, Roshni Walia, Sharat Saxena, Sahil Mehta, and the late Mukul Dev.
