Punjabi and Bollywood singer B Praak has reportedly received a death threat demanding Rs 10 crore, allegedly from an individual claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threat has triggered a police investigation in Mohali, where authorities are now working to trace the source of the call and assess the seriousness of the threat.
According to details shared in the complaint, the threat surfaced after a series of suspicious phone calls were made to Punjabi singer Dilnoor, who is professionally associated with B Praak. Dilnoor received two calls on January 5 but did not answer them. On January 6, he received another call from a foreign number. When he answered, he found the conversation unsettling and disconnected the call almost immediately. Soon after, he received a voice message on his phone.
In the recorded audio message, the caller identified himself as Arju Bishnoi and issued a direct threat linked to B Praak. The caller demanded Rs 10 crore and instructed Dilnoor to convey the message to the singer. He warned that the money must be paid within one week and claimed that even if B Praak chose to leave the country, anyone associated with him who was found nearby would be targeted. The message also contained an explicit threat, stating that failure to meet the demand would result in severe consequences.
After receiving the threat, Dilnoor submitted a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police in Mohali on January 6. Acting on the complaint, the police registered the matter and initiated an investigation to identify the caller, verify the gang connection and determine whether the threat was genuine or part of an extortion attempt.
B Praak is a well-known figure in the Indian music industry, with numerous chart-topping songs in both Punjabi and Hindi cinema. His popularity and high public profile have raised concerns among fans and industry colleagues following news of the threat.
The incident comes amid a string of recent violent and extortion-related cases allegedly linked to the Lawrence gang. Earlier this year, multiple rounds of gunfire were reported outside a businessman’s residence in Rohini, followed by similar attacks targeting a gym in Paschim Vihar and another businessman in East Delhi. These incidents reportedly followed a pattern of phone threats preceding shootings outside properties.
Delhi Police have stated that the accused involved in two of these recent firing incidents have been arrested following encounters. Authorities across states remain on alert as investigations continue into the broader network behind these threats and attacks.
