Seven people lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Gujarat’s Valsad district after a Maruti Eeco car collided with a truck, officials said. The crash proved fatal for five members of a single family, while two other occupants later died from injuries sustained in the incident, raising the total death toll to seven.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred on a ghat stretch where the Eeco car reportedly rammed into a speeding truck while negotiating a turn. The victims were residents of Amba Jungle village in Kaprada and were travelling together at the time of the collision. The impact of the crash was extremely severe, leaving the vehicle completely crushed and trapping several passengers inside.
Five family members died instantly at the scene due to the intensity of the impact. Two others who suffered critical injuries were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but they later succumbed to their injuries despite medical efforts. Police personnel and a 108 ambulance team arrived at the accident site shortly after receiving information and initiated rescue and procedural operations.
Local residents also rushed to the spot after hearing the loud crash and assisted rescue teams in pulling victims out of the mangled vehicle. Authorities have begun further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, while the incident has cast a deep sense of grief across Kaprada and nearby areas, where the victims were known.
In a separate road accident reported from Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district, a schoolboy was killed and several others were injured after a truck carrying clinker rammed into a school bus near Byrnihat on Thursday morning. Police said the collision took place around 8 am at the 17th Mile area when a bus belonging to Mount Zion Academy had stopped to pick up students. At the time of the accident, nearly 20 students were on board the vehicle.
Officials stated that the Guwahati-bound truck struck the bus from behind, causing injuries to multiple passengers. Emergency responders reached the location and shifted the injured students for medical treatment, while authorities launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
