A five-year-old child from Karnataka chokes to death on a toy ball that was discovered inside a food packet

A five-year-old boy died after choking on a plastic toy ball that was allegedly found inside a packet of Kurkure in Karnataka's Mysuru district, police said.

The incident occurred in Gauripura village, where the child is believed to have accidentally swallowed the complimentary plastic ball while playing. According to police sources, the ball became lodged in his throat, causing him to suffocate.

The family rushed the boy to a nearby medical facility, but doctors were unable to save him.

The tragic incident has left the family and the entire village in grief. The child was his parents' only son and belonged to a well-known family in the area.

Police sources told India Today that the plastic ball was a complimentary item included with the Kurkure packet and that the child accidentally swallowed it while playing.

However, the police clarified that the family has not filed any complaint in connection with the incident. Consequently, no Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered and no criminal case has been filed so far.

Authorities said they remain in contact with the family, and any further action will depend on whether a formal complaint is lodged.
