A newly acquired Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus was stolen from a depot in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district late Monday night. However, the thieves abandoned the vehicle shortly afterwards after one of its tyres developed a puncture.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the bus being driven away from the Jamner depot. The thieves reportedly left the vehicle near a village and escaped after the tyre was punctured.
The incident has raised questions over security arrangements at the Jamner depot, especially as the area surrounding the bus station has reportedly witnessed thefts in recent times.
It is still unclear how the thieves managed to drive the new bus out of the depot, how the security arrangements failed and what action was taken after the theft was discovered.
Jamner police are investigating the incident and working to identify the suspects and establish their motive.
