A speeding ambulance hit a toll plaza after skidding off a wet road in the Udupi district Wednesday.






In this accident, 4 people died. The ambulance motorist, Roshan Rodrigues, who sustained damages, told media persons: “There existed emergency gates for vehicles (such as ambulances) and as I reached across, the staff were clearing the barricades and I noticed a cow in the center of the road. I used brakes and the vehicle overturned after skidding.”

 

The incident occurred at the Shirur toll gate at about 4.07 pm when the ambulance was moving to the Kundapur hospital from Honnavar with a patient called Gajanana Nayak, 55, attended by his friends and families. Nayak and three others in the ambulance — Madeva Naika (48), Lokesh Naika (48) and Jyothi Naika (44) passed in the accident.
