After madrasas, the UP govt to begin survey of Waqf belongings

 


Amid the enduring survey of madrasas, the Uttar Pradesh government has determined to embark a survey of all the Waqf properties in the state. The Opposition responded smartly to the government's decision, dubbing it a bid to "entangle people only in Hindu-Muslim problem".

On Tuesday, the UP government toppled a 1989 government order that required automatic registration of high or mounded land, empty land, and Usar land as Waqf property.

The UP government has demanded all the district judges and commissioners to re-examine the papers of all the properties which have been registered underneath Waqf since April 7, 1989, and to document the status of such lands.
