On Tuesday, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar noted that of the 19 militants involved in the attack in 2019, eight had been killed, seven had been arrested, and four, including three Pakistanis, were still alive. This came on the fourth anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack.
The security forces are pursuing Jaish-e-Muhammad, and practically all of their senior commanders have been neutralized, ADGP Kumar said in a statement to the media after paying respects to the CRPF members who lost their lives in the heinous attack.
He said that the JeM currently only has 7-8 local members and 5-6 active Pakistanis, including Mossa Solaimani (a wanted terrorist), and that police are pursuing them and will soon neutralize them.
He claimed that in addition to dismantling militant cells, the police are harshly cracking down on funding for terrorism and narco-terrorism. "We were able to collect Rs. 41 lakhs, and only lately, Rs. 26 lakhs was seized in Baramulla," he claimed.
Additionally, he said that the cases filed against OGWs (over-ground workers) engaged in such actions are being resolved quickly. "There are already 950 such instances, down from 1,600 in October of last year, and 13 convictions have also been made thus far."
He added that there are currently 37 local militants active, only two of whom are older — Farooq Nalli and Riyaz Chatri — the others have recently joined.
On this day in 2019, a suicide bomber smashed a car packed with explosives into the security force convoy, killing at least 40 members of the Central Reserve Police Force.
Jaish-e-Mohammed, a terrorist organization with a base in Pakistan, took credit for the assault.
