North Korea has now threatened to arrest parents if their kids are seen watching Hollywood movies and TV shows in an effort to step up its grip on Western media.
The parents of a son or daughter who are discovered watching a Hollywood or South Korean film will wind up suffering for six months in a labor camp. The children who witnessed it, however, could receive an unbelievable five-year term, according to the Mirror.
Before, parents who were found to have committed the "crime" could get away with a severe warning.
According to sources in the Hermit Kingdom quoted in the Mirror, Pyongyang has implemented "Inminban," a required neighborhood watch gathering via which the regime's directives are disseminated to neighborhoods.
Parents will be informed that those caught with smuggled DVDs would no longer receive leniency from the state, according to Radio Free Asia.
Parents will also receive warnings from the Inminban for failing to raise their kids properly in accordance with Kim Jong Un's communist beliefs.
Importantly, a wave of stricter regulations relating to singing, dancing, and talking are also being targeted by Kim, not just movie buffs.
A six-month sentence will also be imposed on anyone caught acting "South Korean," as well as their parents.
Parents in North Korea risk being imprisoned for allowing their children to watch Hollywood blockbusters.
