A 28-year-old man is accused of stabbing his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend over 16 times outside of her office in east Bengaluru on Tuesday.
The victim has been identified by police as Leela Pavithra Nalamati of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. In Murugeshpalya, she worked for Omega Healthcare Management Services Private Ltd. Dinakar Banala, 28, an accused party from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, works as a nurse at a Domlur-based business.
As soon as they arrived, Jeevan Bhima Nagar police detained Dinakar.
According to DCP (east) Bheemashankar S Guled, the murder happened outside the victim's office at about 7.30 p.m.
"A preliminary investigation indicated that Dinakar and Leela agreed to be married after falling in love five years prior. But because the bridegroom was from a different caste, the girl's family was not prepared for the wedding "The policeman spoke.
"Dinakar was then told by Leela that her family had decided against their marriage and that she would have to respect that decision. Dinakar became enraged by this and stabbed Leela repeatedly as a result "Guled stated.
Dinakar allegedly arrived at Leela's office and waited outside. The two got into a fight after she left. Then, in the full face of everyone, Dinakar pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman over 16 times.
