Accidentally sent the incorrect message on WhatsApp? Here's how to edit it

In a good mood, WhatsApp. The most recent update to the messaging app added the ability to alter texts that were sent accidentally. If you make a typo, which I do frequently, it might be helpful. The erase message for everyone option and disappearing messages served as the foundation for WhatsApp's edit message feature. You could keep the chat organized by using the edit option, which is neat.

The process is easy. Simply hold down on a sent message for a long time and select "Edit" from the menu. The icon for the edit button is a pen, as is common throughout many messaging programs.

The edit function will only be available for up to fifteen minutes after the message has been sent, according to WhatsApp. According to the company, "edited messages" will show an "edited" tag to let users reading the text know when a correction has been made without displaying the edit history. The messaging service, which is owned by Meta, emphasizes that end-to-end encryption (E2EE) privacy standards are used to safeguard users' data on the site. Because WhatsApp extends E2EE to media files and calls, messages cannot be intercepted by anyone, including the corporation.

The edit feature is being rolled out by WhatsApp, but not all users have access. Around the same time, users in India will also be able to use the feature. Users must make sure their iPhone or Android app is updated until that time.

Although the feature is straightforward yet crucial, WhatsApp has been a little slow to release these highly requested features. A similar functionality for iMessage for Apple products was released by Apple a year before to WhatsApp's introduction of the edit feature. Even networks operated by Meta, like Facebook and Instagram, have long had an edit option.

The messaging app recently launched multi-device compatibility for smartphones in a similar manner. Users can now link their main WhatsApp account to up to four devices, including computers and smartphones, as part of the update. Although it might seem better late than never, fans and users have been requesting such features for years.

It also indicates that WhatsApp has not yet implemented several fundamental functionalities that we have been requesting for years. Users still cannot schedule messages on the messaging platform, despite this feature being offered on a few specific apps. A call recording option has also received a lot of user requests, although it may be difficult to implement due to privacy concerns. Additionally, WhatsApp lacks an Instagram-like Vanish feature that instantly deletes messages after a session is closed.
