After their homes were allegedly bulldozed under the supervision of IAS Tina Dabi in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, Hindu migrants from Pakistan staged a dharna outside the district collectorate office.
According to reports, the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) deemed more than 50 temporary home encroachments and had them destroyed and cleared with the aid of a bulldozer.
More than 150 women, men, and children are now exposed to the sky as a result of the action. According to the district administration, the Amar Sagar Lake in Jaisalmer inflow of water stopped because the displaced people had unlawfully constructed homes along its banks.
IAS Tina Dabi defended the choice by claiming that the action was taken in response to grievances brought out by the locals and the village chief of Amarsagar.
Additionally, Tina Dabi claimed that despite receiving previous notice to leave the property, the migrants disobeyed. A total of 28 encroachments have been removed as of this point.
One of the aforementioned victims, Kishanraj Bhil, who was forced to flee Pakistan and relocate to India, claimed that in addition to being driven out of Pakistan, their homes have also been destroyed in India. "The whole of our Kalla Crusher Bhil settlement was destroyed. We were destroyed in Pakistan before moving to India, and now we are destroyed here as well, he claimed.
Resettlement is also demanded by the victims. "We also presented our request during the open hearing. But it didn't take place. While action was taken to remove the encroachments after the UIT issued a notice to quit the settlement on Monday evening, nothing has been done for our resettlement, he claimed.
