Ahmednagar in Maharashtra would become Ahilya Nagar, as per CM Eknath Shinde

Ahmednagar in Maharashtra will soon be known as Ahilya Nagar, according to an announcement made by the state's chief minister on Wednesday.

Ahilyabai Holkar, the Maratha Empire's queen, was born at Chondi hamlet in the Ahmednagar district, and Ahilya Nagar will be named in her honor.

The news was made on the day that was designated as Ahilyabai Holkar Jayanti, or the 298th anniversary of the queen's birth in the eighteenth century.

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, and BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar were among the attendees.

Since the government renamed Aurangabad and Osmanabad in Maharashtra as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and Dharashiv, respectively, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that the Ahmednagar district be given a new name.

Ahmednagar's name has to be changed to Ahilya Nagar, Padalkar had previously informed the news agency ANI. Following widespread demand, Aurangabad and Osmanabad have had their names changed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Following that, the public is calling for Ahmednagar to be renamed Ahilya Nagar.
