In Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, a priest at the Narasimha temple allegedly hanged himself to death. The suicide was broadcast live on Facebook by Ram Shankar Das (28). He made the dramatic move after accusing the police of harassing him.
Ram Shankar Das leveled severe accusations against the commander of the Raiganj police outpost and a constable stationed there in the live video.
Manoj Sharma, the station house officer at the Kotwali police station, denied the priest's accusations, saying that the man was a drug addict who took his own life when high.
In relation to the disappearance of a senior Mahant of the temple named Ram Sharan Das, the police had just recently filed a complaint against Ram Shankar Das. According to the news agency PTI, Ram Sharan Das, 80, has been missing since January of this year.
On Monday, Ram Shankar Das's body was discovered by the police hanging in his room on temple grounds. The police entered the priest's chamber after two days of his absence and found that he had killed himself by hanging himself with a fabric noose. It appears to be suicide at first glance, Manoj Sharma told PTI. An investigation into the case's whole has been opened by the police.
