Bommai on the Cong government promises: They'll put Karnataka in a financial crisis

Former CM Basavaraj Bommai stated that the Congress government's choice will lead the state towards a financial disaster in response to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's announcement that all five Congress guarantees will be fulfilled in the current fiscal year.

They'll result in a budget deficit for the state. The annual cost of these gifts will be Rs 55,000 crore, he claimed.

Additionally, the BJP leader questioned the practicality of the new programs. "It's uncertain how long they will last. Since the majority of tax collection has already been completed, there is no room for improvement. Because they will be using funding intended for people to give away free things, certain programs will also suffer, he added.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Friday that the Cabinet had resolved to fulfill all five guarantees in the current fiscal year. He did this after presiding over a meeting of the Cabinet.

The party had outlined five guarantees: giving 200 units of free electricity to all households (Gruha Jyoti), giving Rs 2,000 per month to the woman who heads each family (Gruha Lakshmi), giving 10 kg of free rice to every member of a household that falls below the poverty line (Anna Bhagya), giving Rs 3,000 per month to graduate youth who are jobless and Rs 1,500 per month to diploma holders who are jobless (aged 18 to 25)

In the just-completed election in Karnataka, the Congress party won 135 out of 224 seats, securing a resounding victory. The Congress is now required to uphold its pledges in accordance with its promises and the faith the people have placed in it.

Siddaramaiah announced the five promises on Friday. "We discussed five guarantees in detail and we will implement them in this financial year for all, irrespective of caste and creed," he added.
