Two passengers performed "namaz" on their bus, therefore the driver of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and his assistant were suspended.
According to reports, the event happened on June 4 after the bus arrived at NH24 in the Milak neighborhood of Rampur district after leaving Bareilly terminal. When the incident happened, there were 14 people riding the bus.
The Times of India said that KP Singh, the bus driver, claimed that two other passengers informed him that they intended to recite namaz when a few other passengers requested to use a wayside restroom. The bus was stopped for a few more minutes after the driver acknowledged his agreement with their request.
The other people on the bus objected, though, when they noticed that the driver was holding up the bus until the two people finished their prayers. According to a passenger's internet video regarding the incident, the bus was allegedly stopped only so that the two men may do namaz.
According to reports, the decision to suspend the driver was decided after taking into account the risk that stopping the bus in a remote area at night might have led to unfavorable events like looting and put the lives of the passengers in danger.
The bus's driver and his helper, Yadav, were suspended following an initial investigation, according to Deepak Chaudhary, the transport company's regional manager, because stopping the bus on a busy highway would risk the safety and security of the passengers.
According to the Times of India, Hussain Mansoori, a native of Ahmedabad in Gujarat who had offered the namaz, thought it was unexpected that the driver and the assistant were being punished.
"The bus paused for additional passengers, and I am amazed that such a move was made to allow us time to pray. If necessary, I will support them in whatever way I can," he stated.
