Premenstrual Syndrome common symptoms

For women, the week and days prior to menstruation can be incredibly challenging. Premenstrual Syndrome, also known as PMS, is the umbrella term for the symptoms that women experience during this period, both physically and emotionally. Women also experience the same sensations during menopause, after giving birth (known as postpartum blues), and after a miscarriage, including abortion. As Anjali Mukerjee, a nutritionist, said in her article on PMS, "Sometimes these symptoms are also experienced when oral contraceptives are discontinued."

Anjali continued by saying that menstruation pain is a reality for women as well. While some women feel a mild ache during their period, others may have a shooting sensation that leaves them immobile for days.

Women who have PMS often experience bloating and weight gain.
