BJP issues a lien notice for AAP's Raghav Chadha

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday filed a notice of privilege against Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chadha, for an alleged act of willful and intentional "presentation of false facts to media".

The notice filed by BJP MPs Sushil Kumar Modi and Deepak Prakash refers to Chadha's alleged comments to the media regarding the suspension of Rajya Sabha AAP MP Sanjay Singh from the entire session for continuous 'violating' the directives of the President.

According to the announcement, Chadha allegedly said in an interview that Sanjay Singh would continue to serve in the room despite the suspension. BJP MPs denounced the comment as "an insult to the power of the president and a violation of privilege".

Singh and other opposition members demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on the Manipur issue in Rajya Sabha. After their request was not approved and Question Time began, the AAP MP went to the Department axis to emphasize his request.

Sanjay Singh is asked to return to his seat. After he failed to comply, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said, "I appoint Sanjay Singh." Union Minister and Leader of the House of Representatives Piyush Goyal recommended the suspension of Sanjay Singh, calling his behavior completely unethical and contrary to House rules. Dhankhar immediately ordered Singh's suspension and asked the House of Commons if they would approve. The Chamber supported the rest by voice vote.

Another opinion was filed by Phangnon Konyak and K Laxman of the BJP against Raghav Chadha for allegedly misrepresenting House procedures. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar referred the matter to the Privilege Committee

The ongoing parliamentary session on the monsoon was marred by disruption, with the opposition demanding that Prime Minister Modi issue a statement on the violence in Manipur. The government said it was ready to discuss the matter, but denounced the opposition for repeated disturbances.
