An Indian expat living in Dubai has won a grand prize of Dh15 million (Rs 33.7 crore) in the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket lottery.
Sakil Khan Sarwar Khan purchased lottery ticket 191115 on July 25, along with 14 others, for draw number 254.
Khan purchased the jackpot-winning ticket for the Abu Dhabi Grand Ticket on July 25, which is his birthday.
Khan, a technical coordinator at an IT company in Dubai, will split the cash prize among a group of 15, Gulf News reported.
"Usually, I pick lottery ticket numbers at random. This time, however, I bought a ticket on my birthday and really thought about the numbers I picked," Khan told Big Ticket organizers.
He has been buying Big Tickets with his friends since 2015.
Khan will use the bonus money to clear his debt and start his own business. He plans to continue buying lottery tickets.
Whoever buys a ticket for the next live draw this month will have a chance to win 20 million dirhams on September 3. Anyone who wants to play Big Ticket can buy tickets online through the Big Ticket website or at the counters at stores at Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Ain Airport.
