The baby was drunk because his American mother let him drink so he wouldn't cry and was arrested  


A woman in San Bernardino County, California was arrested for allegedly giving her baby alcohol to stop her crying. The woman was arrested on child endangerment charges in Rialto after her child was hospitalized and turned out to be "drunk," as the Los Angeles Times reports.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department revealed that the defendant while driving through Rialto, resorted to dousing her baby with alcohol to make it stop crying.

The 37-year-old woman, identified as Honesti De La Torre (37), was detained at the West Valley Detention Center following her arrest. She is being held on $60,000 bail. Officials did not comment on the child's condition, as the incident has caused concern and outrage in the community.

In a similar incident, an Ohio woman, Kristel Candelario (31), was arrested for the murder of her 16-month-old baby. The child was left alone for about 10 days while on vacation.

Police said the woman was traveling in Puerto Rico and Detroit and had left the child alone in the home. She is currently being held on a $1 million bond.
