A Maharashtra man is accused of torturing his wife and getting married to another lady

In Maharashtra's Thane district, the police have initiated legal proceedings against a 40-year-old gentleman, his parents, and four other members of his family, as reported by an official on Tuesday. The allegations against this man and his family, who reside in Ampada within the Bhiwandi region, are centered on their purported mistreatment of his 35-year-old wife. According to the information provided in the FIR by an official from the Shanti Nagar police station, the accused individuals allegedly demanded monetary assistance from the woman. When she declined to seek financial aid from her parents, she found herself subjected to relentless harassment and cruelty.

The aggrieved party, in her formal complaint, further divulged that her husband had entered into another marriage. Additionally, the man disowned his daughter from his initial marriage (which included the complainant). This act of disownment was rooted in suspicions about the complainant's character. Furthermore, the man took the extraordinary step of undergoing a DNA test along with his daughter, as per the account presented by the police, quoting the contents of the complaint.

In response to the complaint lodged by the victim, the authorities took action by registering offenses on a Sunday. These legal actions have been initiated against not only the primary individual involved but also his parents and four other family members. The charges laid against them encompass various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), specifically Sections 498(a) (pertaining to subjecting one's wife to cruelty), 494 (pertaining to marrying a second time during the lifetime of the first spouse without obtaining a divorce), 323 (relating to voluntarily causing harm), 504 (concerning intentional insults with the intent to provoke a breach of peace), and 34 (pertaining to common intention), according to the official.
