Congratulates the new father, Shahaeen Afridi Jasprit Bumrah presents a newborn with a gift

In a heartwarming gesture, Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi displayed his warmth and congratulations to the newly-minted father, Jasprit Bumrah, during a break in play in their Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours match in Colombo. Afridi presented a thoughtfully wrapped red gift box to Bumrah when they crossed paths at the R Premadasa Stadium, just before they headed back to their respective team hotels.

In this touching exchange, Shaheen Afridi extended his congratulations to Jasprit Bumrah and wished his newborn baby good health and happiness. The graciousness of this gesture left Bumrah deeply touched, describing it as "very sweet." The Pakistan Cricket Board shared a video of this heartwarming moment on the social media platform X, garnering warm responses from fans worldwide.

The Super Fours match, unfortunately, faced a delay and was rescheduled for the Reserve Day due to heavy rainfall in Colombo on Sunday. The rain came down when India had reached 147 for 2 after 24.1 overs, persisting for over an hour. Despite efforts by the Sri Lankan ground staff to dry the wet patches, on-field umpires raised concerns about the field's playing condition, making it impractical to continue the match on Sunday. Consequently, the match is set to resume on Monday, September 11 at 3 pm IST.

Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, recently celebrated the arrival of their first child, a son, born on September 4th, 2023. This joyous occasion prompted Bumrah to take paternity leave from the Asia Cup, leading to his absence from India's Group A match against Nepal. However, he made a triumphant return to join the team ahead of the Super Fours stage in Colombo.

Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar officially communicated Bumrah's absence from the Asia Cup group matches, clarifying that it was not due to any recurring injury but rather a conscious choice to prioritize his family during this significant moment. This decision was met with respect and understanding, underscoring the importance of achieving a work-life balance, even in the demanding world of international cricket.

Sanjana Ganesan, Bumrah's spouse, is a former Miss India finalist, widely recognized as a model and presenter. The couple's union on March 15, 2021, in Goa, has been a topic of public interest, with their relationship often in the limelight.
