In a new promotional film, Google displays the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, and Watch 2 is finally confirmed

Following its comprehensive presentation of the Pixel 8 Pro's features, Google has unveiled an exciting lineup of products set to debut at the upcoming Google launch event on October 4. In this much-anticipated event, the tech giant will introduce the Google Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8, and the eagerly awaited Watch 2, as showcased in a captivating promotional video.

Drawing from the precedent set during last year's Pixel 7 series launch, it's reasonable to anticipate that Google will bring the Pixel 8 models to the Indian market. However, the availability of the India-specific version of the Google Pixel Watch 2 remains shrouded in uncertainty, given that the first-generation model was restricted to select markets.

The promotional video offers a glimpse of the Pixel 8's appealing peach color option, along with the Pixel 8 Pro's elegant white variant. Earlier previews through Google's "Know Your Hardware" campaign had already unveiled the phone's blue and black alternatives.

The newly unveiled Pixel phones exhibit a striking similarity to their predecessors from the Pixel 7 series. These devices retain the horizontal camera arrangement on the rear and maintain their characteristic soft-edged design. Notably, the color of the camera bar seamlessly blends with the smartphone's frame. While the body boasts a glossy finish, the frame and camera bar feature subdued colors. This design continuity is consistent with Google's approach, as exemplified by the recent launch of its inaugural folding phone, the Pixel Fold. Clearly, Google aims to keep the spotlight firmly on its flagship device.

Nevertheless, beneath this familiar exterior, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are expected to house the potent Google Tensor G3 chipset, offering enhanced performance. Additionally, the video reaffirms the presence of a dual rear camera setup on the Pixel 8, while the Pixel 8 Pro boasts three rear cameras. The third camera this year incorporates a periscope-style lens for improved zoom capabilities. Intriguingly, Google has revealed that the 8 Pro model will also feature a temperature sensor, though the specific applications and functionalities of this sensor, apart from measuring body temperature, remain undisclosed.

Both phones are anticipated to ship with the latest Android 14 straight out of the box, ensuring users have access to the latest software innovations. Meanwhile, the Pixel Watch 2 closely resembles its predecessor, the Pixel Watch, retaining its distinctive rotating lock mechanism for the strap and incorporating a metal crown on the side.

Regarding the watch variants, we can expect both Bluetooth and LTE options, although there is likely to be a singular display variant. The Watch 2 is expected to maintain a 1.2-inch round OLED screen with a resolution of 384 x 384. Furthermore, the device will receive software enhancements and AI optimizations, accompanied by a fresh array of watch faces to provide users with an enriched experience.

Lastly, the promotional video tantalizingly hints at the arrival of the new Pixel Buds, a product that has long been rumored to be in the pipeline from Google.
