Tomorrow, UK PM Rishi Sunak will go to the Akshardham temple in Delhi

On the final day of his three-day visit to India, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has scheduled a visit to the Akshardham temple, a significant spiritual site located in Delhi. This decision aligns with the sentiments he expressed on Friday when he referred to himself as a "proud Hindu" and conveyed his desire to partake in a temple visit during his sojourn in the country.

Mr. Sunak candidly stated, "I'm a proud Hindu, and that's how I was raised. That's how I am. Hopefully, I can visit a Mandir while I'm here for the next couple of days," during an interaction with the ANI news agency. He further revealed that he had observed Raksha Bandhan but regretfully could not dedicate sufficient time to properly commemorate Krishna Janmashtami. Therefore, he expressed a heartfelt wish to "make up for it" by visiting a temple, underscoring the importance of his faith and cultural heritage.

Accompanied by his wife, Akshata Murty, Rishi Sunak arrived in Delhi on Friday to participate in the G20 Summit, a two-day event that commenced on Saturday. Their arrival was warmly greeted by Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, who extended a traditional welcome with the invocation of "Jai Siya Ram." In a symbolic gesture, they were also presented with Rudraksha beads, a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, and a Hanuman Chalisa.

During the G20 Summit proceedings, the UK Prime Minister engaged in a bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This pivotal meeting allowed them to explore avenues for strengthening trade ties and enhancing investment collaboration between their respective nations. Following the meeting, PM Modi shared a heartwarming photograph capturing a warm embrace between the two leaders, signaling their commitment to fostering a deeper and mutually beneficial partnership.
