The Congress has raised a pointed question regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's perceived support for BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh, who is currently facing allegations of sexual harassment. The party has strongly criticized the Modi government for what they see as an unwavering stance in favor of Bhushan despite the serious accusations leveled against him.
This accusation stems from the recent statement made by the Delhi Police to a court, wherein they stated, "Whenever Brij Bhushan got a chance, he tried to exploit female wrestlers." The Congress, highlighting this statement, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their concerns in Hindi. They pointed out that, according to the Delhi Police, the evidence provided is sufficient to warrant charges against Bhushan. Despite this, the Modi government, which proclaims to uphold women's rights, continues to extend its support to Brij Bhushan, who stands accused of sexual exploitation. The fundamental question that persists is, "Why is PM Modi seemingly protecting Brij Bhushan?"
Furthermore, during a recent court hearing on the matter, the Delhi Police emphasized that Brij Bhushan Singh had consistently violated the dignity of the female wrestlers who had filed harassment complaints against him. The court was in the process of deliberating the framing of charges against Brij Bhushan Singh following the submission of a chargesheet in the case, which detailed 15 instances of alleged sexual harassment against the six-time MP.
Delhi's Rouse Avenue court, on July 20, granted bail to Brij Bhushan Singh in connection with the sexual harassment case. However, it was stipulated that he could not leave the country without prior authorization, and he was prohibited from making any direct or indirect threats against those who had brought forward the accusations against him.
