Check the day and hour of the special trading session for Muhurat Trading in 2023

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is gearing up for its annual Muhurat Trading session, which will take place on the eve of Diwali, occurring this year on November 12 (Sunday). The BSE has allocated a specific trading window spanning from 6 pm to 7.15 pm, which includes a 15-minute pre-market session.

Muhurat Trading is a unique and sacred trading session organized by stock exchanges to mark the Diwali festivities. Within this one-hour timeframe, traders and investors engage in symbolic trades, signifying the commencement of the 'new samvat,' which signifies the start of the new financial year.

This occasion carries substantial cultural and spiritual significance, as many individuals opt to venture into the stock market during Muhurat Trading, viewing it as an auspicious way to begin anew.

Certain investors choose to acquire shares during this period, believing that it augurs good fortune and prosperity throughout the year.

In observance of Diwali Balipratipada, Dalal Street will be closed on November 14. Traditionally, this day marks the first day after Diwali.

However, this year presents an exception, as there will be a one-day gap for the celebration of the festival, which is known as Bali Padyami or Virapratipada in certain regions of the country.

During the past two Muhurat Trading sessions, the stock markets concluded on a positive note. Both the BSE Sensex and Nifty50 experienced gains of approximately 0.9 percent each during the 2022 Muhurat Trading session, while on the 2021 Diwali eve, both headline indices saw an increase of around half a percent.
