Former Ukrainian lawmaker, critical of Russia after being shot

Oleg Tsaryov, a former Ukrainian legislator known for his pro-Russian stance, has been hospitalized following a gunshot incident, and his condition is reported to be in critical condition, with his current location being the intensive care unit. This information was provided by a Russian official, Vladimir Rogov, who did not disclose the precise location of the shooting.

Rogov, a high-ranking official appointed by Russia in southern Ukraine, expressed the gravity of Tsaryov's condition and called for Orthodox Christian believers to offer their prayers for Tsaryov's recovery.

It's worth noting that Tsaryov had been the subject of reports in the previous year, suggesting that Moscow intended to install him as the leader of a puppet administration in Kyiv in the aftermath of Russia's military intervention, which began on February 24, the previous year.

However, Tsaryov had downplayed this notion when it was reported by the Financial Times, which had cited information from U.S. intelligence sources before the invasion. He characterized the idea as "quite humorous," emphasizing that he was primarily engaged in a wellness business in Crimea and did not hold a position of significant importance.

Prior to this period, Tsaryov had served as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament and had even assumed the role of Speaker of the Parliament of "Novorossiya," an entity that emerged after Russian-supported separatists in eastern Ukraine declared independence in 2014 and initiated confrontations with Ukrainian military forces.
