In response to Pakistan's ceasefire breaches in J&K's Arnia, the BSF retaliates severely

According to sources within the Border Security Force (BSF), the BSF responded robustly to the unprovoked ceasefire violations carried out by Pakistani troops along the international border (IB) in the Jammu region. The BSF's retaliatory action resulted in significant damage to Pakistani positions and border infrastructure in the Arnia and RS Pura sectors along the international border in Jammu.

The initiation of cross-border shelling by Pakistan Rangers, marking the first major ceasefire violation since 2021, began at around 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Arnia area of the RS Pura sector and persisted for approximately seven hours. This exchange left a BSF jawan and a woman injured.

BSF sources have indicated that the Pakistani Rangers may be under pressure to support infiltration attempts by terrorists, given their lack of success in crossing into India along the Line of Control (LoC). In response, the BSF's local units carried out a counterattack that inflicted substantial damage on the Pakistani side.

Numerous watchtowers and positions were demolished during the Indian retaliation, and several Pakistani Rangers sustained injuries. Ambulances were observed shuttling to and from hospitals throughout the night to tend to the wounded. Additionally, on Saturday, the BSF registered a formal protest with their Pakistani counterparts during a border meeting in Jammu, expressing their objections to the firing and mortar shelling on forward posts and villages along the IB.
