PM Modi is being criticized by Kharge for his government's handling of India's economy, calling it defaulter kaal

On Saturday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge directed a barb at Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the reported increase in outstanding dues from wilful defaulters, asserting that Modi's government is steering India's economy towards a "defaulter kaal" (era of defaulters).

Kharge also shared a media report from X, which asserted that the unpaid amount from wilful defaulters has surged at a rate of more than Rs 100 crore per day since March 2019.

In a post on X, Kharge made the following statement: "Narendra Modi ji, Your government is taking India's Economy to 'Defaulter Kaal'! Distributing 'Muft Ki Revdis' to cronies and demolishing the savings of the common people has been your only agenda."

He inquired whether it was accurate that dues from wilful defaulters had risen by an astonishing Rs 100 crore daily since March 2019.

Kharge then proceeded to ask, "Has your government not written off Rs 14.56 lakh crore NPAs in the last 9 financial years?" He accused the government of aiding serious economic offenders such as Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Vijay Mallya, and Jatin Mehta to "loot and scoot from India."

According to Kharge, the Modi government is also responsible for imposing "backbreaking price rises," depleting the savings of ordinary citizens, and fostering monumental economic inequality.

He emphasized that when farmers in dire straits seek assistance, the BJP refuses to forgive their loans, but when affluent cronies request write-offs, the government complies swiftly.

Kharge concluded by stating, "Come 2024, and the people of India shall respond to every assault you have made on the economy!"
