Three death threats against Mukesh Ambani in four days, this time for Rs 400 crore

Authorities have disclosed that all three of these threatening emails emanated from a solitary email address linked to an individual named Shadab Khan and have been tracked back to Belgium in Germany. Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, found himself targeted with a ransom demand of Rs 400 Crore in yet another death threat email on Monday, making it the third such communication he has received over the past four days.

Mukesh Ambani, a prominent figure on the global business stage and among the wealthiest individuals globally, has been besieged with menacing emails originating from a singular email ID since the 27th of October. Each of these ominous emails, according to officials, included a demand for ransom.

The first menacing email, dispatched on a Friday, demanded Rs 20 crore as a ransom payment. The following day, another email arrived, ominously warning that Ambani's life was in danger unless he remitted Rs 200 crore to the sender. A Mumbai police official relayed these developments.

Importantly, these three email communications have all emanated from the same email ID, and they are attributed to an individual identified as Shadab Khan. Authorities have determined that the emails were routed through Belgium, with investigations now focusing on ascertaining the authenticity of the email ID. There is speculation that these emails might have been sent using a deceptive identity. Furthermore, authorities are actively engaging with Belgian email service providers in a quest to acquire additional information concerning the aforementioned email address.

In response to this alarming situation, an FIR (First Information Report) was formally lodged on Saturday at the Gamdevi police station. This action was taken based on a complaint filed by the security in charge of the industrialist.

The registered case encompasses legal provisions stipulated in the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 387 (pertaining to putting an individual in fear of death or grievous harm in order to extort) and 506(2) (related to criminal intimidation). A vigorous pursuit is underway to apprehend the person responsible for these threats.

It is worth noting that in the previous year, the Mumbai police had arrested an individual hailing from Darbhanga in Bihar, who had made death threats to Mukesh Ambani and members of his family. The individual had also issued threats of detonating the Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital located in Mumbai.
