Was it an error made by Virat Kohli? Following Suryakumar Yadav's out against New Zealand, fans react

Suryakumar Yadav had the opportunity to participate in his debut World Cup match against New Zealand on Sunday, October 22, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA) in Dharamsala. This chance arose after Hardik Pandya was sidelined from the game due to an injury sustained during the match against Bangladesh at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Suryakumar must have been eager to leave a lasting impression, particularly with India in a favourable position in their pursuit of victory. Virat Kohli's presence in the middle led to expectations of a smoother path for Suryakumar. However, this didn't unfold as expected, as the batsman found himself being dismissed.

In the penultimate delivery of the 34th over, Suryakumar directed the ball towards the cover region and initiated a single run. Yet, there was an element of uncertainty in Virat Kohli's decision regarding whether to complete the run. When Virat eventually decided against it, Suryakumar was already more than halfway down the pitch.

Mitchell Santner executed a full-length dive to prevent the ball from going further and proceeded to toss the ball to Tom Latham. By the time these actions were completed, it was too late for Suryakumar as Tom Latham dislodged the bails at the striker's end.

With a score of 191 for five in 33.5 overs, India lost its fifth wicket. Suryakumar Yadav managed to accumulate only two runs from four balls before his dismissal. At that point, Virat Kohli was batting with 55 runs from 64 balls.

During this sequence of events, fans on X shared their opinions on who was responsible for Suryakumar Yadav's run-out.

One fan suggested that Suryakumar willingly sacrificed his wicket to protect Virat Kohli, stating, "Surya Kumar Yadav sacrificed his Wicket for Virat Kohli."

Another fan criticized Kohli for what they perceived as selling Suryakumar short, commenting, "He literally lost his wicket due to Kohli, but yeah, let's blame Surya. Make it make sense."
