Body of missing woman discovered in Boston airport garage; boyfriend allegedly runs away

The body of a 31-year-old woman, who had been reported missing, was found in a vehicle parked at the Boston airport garage. Police confirmed the discovery on Saturday, revealing that she had sustained severe injuries to her face and neck, as well as puncture wounds to her sides. The woman, identified as Margaret 'Maggie' Mbitu, was located at the Central Parking lot of Logan Airport in Boston. An official release from Massachusetts State Police indicated that the victim's vehicle contained a substantial amount of blood.

Margaret, who was last seen leaving her job at the nonprofit BAMSI in Halifax, appears to have fallen victim to a homicide that investigators believe was not a random act. Authorities have initiated a manhunt for her boyfriend, 40-year-old Kevin Kangethe, who was captured on surveillance footage entering the Logan Airport parking garage before heading to the terminal area and taking a flight to Kenya.

According to Massachusetts State Police, their ongoing investigation suggests that Kangethe and Ms. Mbitu were known to each other, and the homicide was not a random occurrence, ensuring that there was no threat to the public or travelers at Logan Airport. However, to preserve the integrity of the investigation, no further information is being released at this time.

While the exact time of Margaret's death has not been disclosed, authorities revealed that Kevin purchased his plane tickets to Kenya in the early hours of Tuesday. BAMSI, the nonprofit organization where Margaret was employed, paid tribute to her on Facebook, describing her as a "warm, caring" individual who was loved by everyone she worked with. The organization expressed profound sadness over the loss of this "amazing young woman."
