Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar found himself embroiled in a dispute with his coalition partner, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), concerning the attribution of credit for the recruitment of 1.2 lakh teachers in the state's government-run schools. This clash of perspectives emerged during an event hosted by the state's power department, where Nitish Kumar, in the presence of his cabinet colleague Alok Mehta, conveyed his opinion that the RJD should not singularly claim credit for the teacher recruitment drive. Instead, Nitish Kumar emphasized that this accomplishment should be acknowledged as a collaborative effort of Bihar's Mahagathbandhan government.
Addressing the issue directly, Nitish Kumar remarked, "You or your party should not be engaged in the pursuit of claiming exclusive credit for the extensive recruitment of teachers. Rather, it is more fitting to attribute this achievement to the collective efforts of the Bihar government."
In the midst of this dispute, the Bihar chapter of the RJD shared an enigmatic post on a social media platform (formerly known as Twitter), expressing gratitude to Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for his role in the recruitment of teachers. Their post read, "What was promised was kept. Lived up to the expectations of the youth! Mahagathbandhan government Tejashwi Bihar is making it! 1,20, 336 teachers appointed History Maker Bihar," underscoring the RJD's appreciation for the contribution to teacher recruitment.
Notably, the Bihar government is set to bestow appointment letters upon a total of 1,20,336 teachers in a grand event to be held at Patna's Gandhi Maidan. These newly appointed educators are distributed across various educational levels, with 70,545 for classes one to five, 26,089 for classes 9th and 10th, and 23,702 for classes 11th and 12th, thus encompassing a broad spectrum of the state's educational needs.
