The inaugural race of the Indian Racing League, originally slated to take place in Hyderabad, has undergone a venue change and is now set to be hosted in Chennai. The decision to relocate the event was necessitated by the local police department's refusal to grant clearance for the race, citing the upcoming Assembly election in Telangana as the primary cause for their decision.
It is important to note that, despite the shift in location, the race weekend for both the F4 Indian Championship and the Indian Racing League will proceed as originally scheduled, with events set to unfold on the designated dates of November 4 and 5.
In response to the alteration in venue, the Indian Racing League has taken the proactive step of ensuring that ticket holders receive full refunds for their purchased tickets. This move is attributed to a force majeure event resulting from the electoral code of conduct that is currently in effect in Telangana.
In a statement issued by the Indian Racing League, they expressed their intent to comply with the rules and regulations set forth by the Election Commission. This decision to change the venue reflects their commitment to maintaining transparency and adhering to the stipulated guidelines, respecting the importance of the electoral process.
It is worth noting that certain governing bodies, such as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), did not raise any objections to the race event. However, the pivotal hurdle emerged with the local police department's decision to withhold permission for the event, a development that led to the relocation of the race to Chennai.
