A woman is injured after a child is charged with dropping glass bottles from a US hotel's 32nd story

The New York City police reported on Friday that two children, a 12-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, hurled glass bottles containing alcohol from the 32nd floor of a hotel near Times Square. This incident resulted in injuries to a 24-year-old woman who was present below, prompting a temporary closure of the street. The loud crashing sounds of the glass hitting the ground led to a momentary panic in the area, with some mistaking it for gunfire.

According to a law enforcement official speaking to The New York Post, the 32-story fall of the glass bottles created a loud noise, contributing to the confusion. The children, residing with their guardians at the InterContinental New York Times Square hotel, engaged in this perilous act.

Following the incident, the 12-year-old was charged with reckless endangerment as a juvenile, while the 11-year-old was not charged due to her age. When approached for comment, one of the guardians declined to provide any statements, as reported by The New York Post.

The police investigation revealed that the duo threw glass bottles from the 32nd-floor window shortly before 5 pm. The result of this dangerous act was the injury of a 24-year-old woman who sustained a cut to her head. She was promptly transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

As the authorities probed the incident, the affected street was temporarily closed. A witness expressed the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the potential lethality of throwing a bottle from such a height. He narrowly avoided being struck by a bottle and deemed the idea of bottle-throwing as "insane." Notably, police reportedly arrested what appeared to be three kids and two adults in connection with the incident.
