In a collaborative operation between the Army and the police conducted on December 24 in the Akhnoor sector near the Line of Control, two packets dropped by drones were seized. Suspected to have been deployed by Pakistani drones for subversive activities, these packets were discovered in an open field in Channi Dewano village in the Khour area around 7.50 am. A prompt joint operation was launched by the Army and the police, and with the assistance of a bomb disposal squad, the packets were opened, leading to the discovery of arms and cash.
The recovered items encompassed a 9 mm Italian-made pistol, three magazines, 30 rounds of ammunition, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), three IED batteries, a hand grenade, and ₹35,000 in cash. This retrieval follows closely on the heels of a successful operation by Army troops the day before, wherein an infiltration attempt was thwarted by eliminating a terrorist in the same sector. The concerted efforts of security forces remain vigilant in addressing potential threats and maintaining security along the Line of Control.
