Declared a "alcohol-free zone" in Ayodhya, close to the Ram Mandir premises

In anticipation of the highly awaited consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the state government has officially designated the entire 84-Kosi Parikrama area, situated near the temple premises, as a 'no liquor zone.' The ban encompasses both the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages, with plans to relocate or eliminate wine shops present in the specified area, according to statements from state Excise Minister Nitin Agrawal.

This decision emerged following a meeting between Minister Agrawal and Champat Rai, the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. During this meeting, the minister underscored the significance of the gathering with the Ram temple's general secretary and conveyed that all existing wine shops within the temple premises have been designated as a 'no liquor zone.' Furthermore, a directive has been issued to ensure that the 84-Kosi Parikrama Marg conforms to the new regulations, effectively prohibiting the presence of alcohol.

As Ayodhya gears up for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir and the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, extensive preparations are underway. The consecration ceremony is scheduled for January 22, with dignitaries, including PM Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expected to participate in the event.
