In a tragic incident that unfolded late on Saturday in the Surat district of Gujarat, a bus collided with multiple vehicles, resulting in one fatality and eight injuries. Shalini Agarwal, the commissioner of the Surat Municipal Corporation, reported that nine individuals were injured in the accident, with one of them later succumbing to injuries during hospital treatment.
Commissioner Agarwal further mentioned that the police are conducting an investigation into the incident, and subsequent actions will be determined based on the findings of the investigation report.
Following the accident, State Education Minister Praful Pansheriya visited the hospital to meet with the injured individuals.
This incident follows a previous accident in September in Gujarat's Surendranagar district, where four people lost their lives when a truck collided with a four-wheeler on the Dasada Patdi Highway. The police revealed that a police car en route from Morbi to Viramgam for a funeral collided with an oncoming truck, leading to the fatal accident. An FIR was filed, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
Additionally, in July, a speeding car crashed into a crowd in Ahmedabad, resulting in nine deaths and ten injuries. Among the casualties were a constable and a home guard jawan. The accident occurred at ISKCON bridge in the Satellite area of the state capital, involving a collision between a Thar and a truck. The chaotic scene led to a second accident when another car rammed into the gathered crowd.
