In Chhattisgarh, a CRPF official was killed and another was injured in an encounter with Naxals


In Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, a tragic encounter between security forces and Naxalites unfolded on Sunday, resulting in the loss of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official's life and causing injuries to a constable.

The incident transpired in the morning within the Jagargunda area, where a team from the CRPF's 165th battalion was engaged in an anti-Naxal operation, departing from its Bedre camp towards Ursangal village. During this operation, a confrontation ensued between the CRPF team and Naxal insurgents, leading to the unfortunate demise of Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Reddy. Constable Ramu sustained bullet injuries in the exchange.

In the aftermath of the encounter, Constable Ramu was swiftly airlifted to a hospital for immediate medical attention. Additionally, law enforcement authorities detained four individuals suspected to be connected to the incident from a nearby area. In response to the unfolding situation, a collaborative search operation was initiated, involving teams from the CRPF's COBRA unit and local police.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences and paid tribute to Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Reddy for his sacrifice in the line of duty. The Chief Minister, in a post on X, conveyed his deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the family of Sub-Inspector Reddy. Furthermore, Chief Minister Sai issued instructions for ensuring appropriate arrangements for the proper treatment of the injured constable, Ramu. The Chief Minister's empathetic response underscores the gravity of the situation and the state's commitment to honoring those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of duty.
