In Srinagar, security personnel neutralize an IED hidden in a gas cylinder and block a blast

Security personnel successfully thwarted a potential explosion by discovering and neutralizing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that had been fitted into a gas cylinder on the outskirts of Srinagar. The joint efforts of the security forces, involving two units of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, led to the detection of the IED concealed within a gas cylinder in the periphery of Srinagar. Taking swift action, the security forces prevented a potential disaster by rendering the IED harmless through its destruction.

This incident follows a similar discovery in November when the Jammu and Kashmir Police located a timer-based IED, weighing 2 kg, concealed inside a tiffin box along the Narwal-Sidhra highway in Jammu. Acting on information about a suspicious object near a police checkpoint around 5:30 pm, a police team, accompanied by a bomb disposal squad, promptly arrived at the scene, removing the explosive device to ensure the safety of the area.
