Law enforcement officials in Kerala's Thrissur district took a 38-year-old man into custody following allegations that he hacked his mother to death in their residence, as reported by the police on Saturday. The individual, identified as Anil and residing in Kaiparambu in Edakkalathur, was apprehended shortly after the incident occurred on Friday night.
According to authorities, the suspect believed to be under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, perpetrated the brutal attack on his mother, Chandranathi, aged 68, deploying a weapon in the process. Despite being swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, Chandranathi succumbed to severe injuries in the early hours of Saturday.
The ongoing investigation involves the interrogation of the accused, with his formal arrest expected to be documented imminently, as indicated by the police.
