Rajasthan Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, Union Health Secretary, appointed


Sudhansh Pant, the current Union Health Secretary and a seasoned IAS officer from the 1991 batch has been designated as the new Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, marking a significant transition in his illustrious career. Presently serving as the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare in the central government, Pant boasts a wealth of experience, having previously held the position of Shipping Secretary.

His extensive expertise in strategic planning, particularly within the health sector, emerged as a pivotal factor influencing his selection for this crucial administrative role. Notably, Pant's noteworthy contributions to the ministry encompass his instrumental role in orchestrating effective measures to control the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, showcasing exceptional leadership during the challenging times of the pandemic.

Over the past five years, Pant has actively engaged in the formulation of several significant bills, addressing critical issues such as the reduction of medicine and medical device prices. Many of these legislative endeavors have subsequently materialized into impactful policies, underscoring Pant's commitment to addressing vital concerns in the healthcare domain.

Throughout his 30-year career, Pant has held key appointments at both state and central levels, exhibiting his versatility and competence in diverse administrative capacities. Noteworthy among his assignments was his management of the extensive COVID medical relief operations in the Health Ministry, where he navigated through the challenges as the Joint Secretary, further solidifying his reputation as a capable and resourceful leader.

Hailing from Khantoli Berinag in the Pithoragarh district, Sudhansh Pant is the son of JC Pant, Chief Engineer of the electricity department, and his mother, Veena Pant, a housewife. His educational journey comprises completing his schooling at St. Joseph's College, Nainital, and pursuing engineering studies at the prestigious IIT Kharagpur. The culmination of Pant's experiences and accomplishments positions him as an adept and seasoned professional poised to take on the responsibilities of the Chief Secretary role in Rajasthan.
