Rajnath Singh visits the relatives of the citizens who died in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during his ongoing visit to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the security situation in the region, convened with the families of civilians who lost their lives in the Poonch district. The unfortunate demise of three civilians, discovered under mysterious circumstances on December 22, followed a terrorist ambush a day earlier that resulted in the tragic loss of four Army jawans in Poonch.

Promptly responding to the incidents, the Army initiated an investigation into the civilian deaths. The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Manoj Pande, also visited Poonch to personally assess the ground situation and conducted a comprehensive security review meeting in the aftermath of the deadly terror attack.

On the present visit, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, accompanied by Army Chief General Manoj Pande and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, arrived in Rajouri district. During this visit, he extended his condolences and support by meeting with the family members of the three civilians who lost their lives in Poonch.

Additionally, Rajnath Singh, along with his contingent, visited the Government Medical College (GMC) to inquire about the well-being of civilians who sustained injuries during the unfortunate incidents.

Former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Shahnaz Ganai, present at the meeting held at Dak Bungalow, reported that the defense minister interacted with the affected families and the local civil society, assuring them of appropriate action against those found guilty following a thorough inquiry into the incidents.
