Shashi Tharoor and Farooq Abdullah are two of the suspended members of parliament

In the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament, marked by frequent adjournments, a notable 141 Opposition MPs have faced suspension from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. This unprecedented action, stemming from unruly behavior and disregard for the Chair's directives, saw an additional 49 MPs being suspended on Tuesday, augmenting the previous tally of 92 suspensions. The suspension spree commenced with the disciplinary action against Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien last week, following a clash with Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The primary point of contention prompting the Opposition's demand for an official statement revolves around the December 13 Lok Sabha security breach. In response to this incident, six individuals have been placed in police custody. The intensified uproar within Parliament on Tuesday resulted in three adjournments throughout the day.

Among the prominent figures suspended on Tuesday are Congress stalwarts Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tiwari, and Karti Chidambaram, along with NCP leader Supriya Sule and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah. The suspended MPs, including these seasoned politicians, have persistently sought a response from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the security breach, contributing to the heightened tensions and disruptions witnessed in the parliamentary proceedings.
