Shoelace around the neck of an 11-year-old New York child whose body was discovered in a shelter

On Monday, an 11-year-old child was discovered in an unconscious state with a shoelace around his neck at a migrant shelter on New York's Upper West Side. Law enforcement sources reported that authorities found the unresponsive child around 5 pm in the lobby of the Stratford Arms Hotel, designated for housing migrant families, as per the New York Post.

Following the discovery, the child was promptly transported to Roosevelt Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The circumstances leading to the child's death remain unknown, prompting an ongoing investigation into the incident.

It's noteworthy that the Stratford Arms Hotel, situated on West 70th Street, had previously accommodated single asylum seekers until September when it was repurposed to provide housing for migrant families.
