In the city of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, a distressing incident unfolded as the owner of a mutton shop, Afroz Khatri, fell victim to a fatal shooting in broad daylight on Wednesday. The assailants, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle, opened fire on Khatri while he was en route to his shop at Rambagh Chowk. This brazen attack, involving two bullets fired by individuals with a history of altercations, resulted in Khatri's immediate demise.
The motive behind this violent act remains shrouded in uncertainty, with no identified suspects at this point. A viral video capturing the shocking incident depicts the two bike-borne assailants shooting Khatri.
The audacious daylight murder of the mutton shop proprietor ignited a wave of anger among local residents, leading to public protests that saw the placement of Khatri's body in the middle of the road.
Prompted by the uproar, law enforcement was dispatched to manage the agitated crowd. Subsequently, Khatri's body was transported to a government-run hospital in the city for a post-mortem examination.
Alam, a relative of the victim, shared with India Today that Khatri owned a mutton shop at Masjid Chowk. According to Alam, the fatal attack occurred as Khatri was walking from his residence to the shop when two assailants confronted him and shot him dead.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Mithanpura Police Station reported that they received information about the incident around 7 am, indicating that a person had been shot near Ram Bagh Chowk. Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered Khatri with a gunshot wound to the head. The attackers, riding a motorcycle, swiftly fled the location after perpetrating the crime.
Despite a brief road blockade by agitated locals, law enforcement managed to bring the situation under control, and ongoing investigations are underway, as stated by the SHO. The circumstances surrounding this tragic incident continue to be a subject of inquiry.
