The Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), a political party established by Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 terror attack and a UN-designated terrorist, is set to participate in the upcoming general elections in Pakistan, as reported by the Pakistani English daily Dawn.
According to the report, the party has nominated candidates for every national and provincial assembly constituency in the February 8 elections. A noteworthy contender among them is Hafiz Saeed's son, Talha Saeed, who is slated to contest from the National Assembly's constituency NA-127 in Lahore.
Hafiz Saeed, the founder of the UN-designated terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has been incarcerated since 2019 after being convicted in several terror financing cases, and the United States has placed a USD 10 million bounty on him.
The banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), led by Hafiz Saeed, serves as the front organization for LeT, responsible for orchestrating the 2008 Mumbai attacks that claimed the lives of 166 individuals, including six Americans.
The PMML has adopted the 'chair' as its electoral symbol, and in a video message, PMML President Khalid Masood Sindhu stated that his party is contesting on a majority of national and provincial assembly seats.
Sindhu emphasized the party's intention to come to power not for corruption but to serve the people and transform Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state. Additionally, he disclosed his candidacy from NA-130 Lahore, where he will be contesting against Nawaz Sharif, the supremo of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and former Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In response to queries regarding PMML's association with Hafiz Saeed and his organization, Sindhu denied any links, stating, "Our party has no backing of Hafiz Saeed."
